Havard and Havard has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The undulating frieze, shaped from a single piece of timber, sits above four well-drawn, ring and baluster turned front legs joined by a potboard and standing on bold, reeded and stepped, braganza-like feet. Richly patinated with intense colour ranging from a warm honey to reddish black. Probably from the Vale of Neath or upper Swansea Valley, circa 1770-1800.
