Vienna bronze refers to small, cast bronze sculptures produced in Vienna, Austria, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, renowned for their realistic cold-painted finishes.

These pieces were typically crafted from cast bronze, finished with a multi-layered cold-painted polychrome technique where paint was applied over a base patina rather than kiln-fired.

Authentic pieces often feature maker marks such as the Geschutzt stamp or the Bergman urn symbol, alongside naturalistic ageing, wear to the cold-painted surface, and fine chisel detailing.

They make excellent accent objects for bookshelves, mantelpieces, or desk surfaces, adding texture, history, and a focal point to both traditional and contemporary schemes.

Preservation requires dusting gently with a soft, dry brush, avoiding all liquids, cleaning chemicals, and abrasive cloths to protect the delicate cold-painted surface.
