Art Deco Bronze Figure Lucien Alliot Cymbal Dancer

Description

Lucien Alliot – A beautiful Art Deco gilt bronze figure of a naked female beauty standing in an elegant pose on tiptoe. In her hands she holds a pair of silver coloured cymbals. A well sculpted and finely detailed figure which demonstrates the skill and attention to detail of this well known sculptor. The vibrant elegant figure is full of movement and stands on a 2 coloured shaped marble base . It is signed L Alliot in the bronze and also has a foundry mark. A stunning piece that would grace any home.

Excellent original condition. A small nibble to the side of the marble base

French c 1930

Lucien Charles Edouard Alliot was born in Paris on November 16th, 1877. He was a student of Barrias and Coutan, and the son of Napoleon Alliot, who was a sculptor like him.

He became well known in the art world after receiving third place prize at the 1907 Salon de Paris. He exhibited at the Salon frequently between 1905 and 1939 and in 1920 he was awarded first prize. His work was part of the sculpture event in the art competition at the 1924 Summer Olympics.

Well traveled and cultured as he was, he became a member of the Salon jury from 1934 until 1939.In 1934 he became its president and he held onto this position until 1939.

His work can be seen in many collections of museums throughout the world. Alliot passed away on the 9th of March, 1967.
