Sail Boats, 1956 Modernist Marine Painting Colourful Sails By Woman Artist Watercolour On Paper

A poetic and colourful modernist watercolour by French woman artist Helčne Farey (born 1909), who devoted much of her oeuvre to the depiction of boats and the sea. Helčne was born in Algiers and and, having been brought up overseas, retained a love for travel, for North Africa and the Mediterranean Bassin. She worked and exhibit in Tunisia, Algeria and Turkey, as well as in France, obtaining the prestigious Prize of the Hugot Foundation for her art. Pictures by the artist are notably in the Museum of Noyers.
Our ''Sailboats'', dating from 1956, measure 25 x 33 cm, the overall framed size of the artwork in a limed oak frame is 43 x 53 cm.
