19th Century English Antique Upholstered Sofa by Gillows

A superb quality, traditionally upholstered English antique by the well known 19th century furniture makers, Gillows. Most probably designed by Bruce Talbot for Gillows around 1870, this large and comfortable antique sofa is upholstered in a clean velvet fabric and features exposed, ebonised show wood with moulding on all four sides, so it can stand away from a wall. The legs are well turned with reeded panels and with floret carving to the arm fronts. Stamped twice by the maker Gillows. In excellent condition, all the innards are intact and strong. A lovely, large English 19th century antique sofa by Gillows of Lancaster.
