Frémiet seems to have passed on his passion for the animal world to his pupil, as Lecourtier excelled in modelling animals in a naturalistic style and presenting movement in his renditions of dogs or deer and deer. He has a real sense of anatomical modelling and in representing the expressions of the animals. Lecourtier won several medals at the Salon, and at Universal Exhibitions.
Mounted on its original base where the artwork is signed in stone, the overall size of the sculpture is approx 32 x 31 x 12 cm.
The greyhound alone is about 22 cm high.
