Description

A large French patinated cold-painted spelter model of a Wolfhound, naturalistically modelled and mounted on a black marble and onyx base. c.1930, in the manner of Louis-Albert Carvin, apparently unsigned.

Large size, and in excellent overall condition throughout; one rear foot appears slightly bent up, however this could be original.

Louis-Albert Carvin was a French artist known for his bronze animalier sculptures. Born on August 7, 1875 in Paris, France, Carvin went on to study under Emmanuel Frémiet and Georges Gardet at the École des Beaux-Arts and later became a member of the Sociéte des Artistes Français.
