Prometheus Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The foundry of E.Colin & Cie was one of the best in Paris and worked with the most notable of artists. This bronze is beautifully observed and shows a putto riding a beetle. The quality of both the sculpture and the casting is superb. The bronze is fully marked and in excellent condition with some slight wear to the patination. It is likely that originally the putto had some chain reins for the beetle but this are now lost. The marble base is the original in good condition with the odd minor knock. The whole is a wonderful French bronze with a huge amount of charm. C.1900.
