This is a lovely set of Art Deco knife or possibly chopstick rests.
They are French and date from around 1930. The blocks at either end are manufactured from macassar (or makassar, an ebony wood) which are attached together by chrome bars. The rests are 11cm in length.
The box is original and a little tatty on the outside. The hinge is good and the peach-coloured inner velvet and satin are in excellent condition. The box measures 28cm squared.
