Designer Antiques4u has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The locks & drawers are stamped for Brown and Lamont of Chester, who were a very well-regarded firm of 19th century cabinet makers, who were recorded as working at the Crypt building in Eastgate street in 1862. We have provenance with this piece that says it was made especially for & came from Eaton Hall near Chester as part of a bespoke bedroom suite & was given to a long serving member of staff upon his retirement. Please see the other antique furniture we have listed. This is a very special piece of investment furniture & is as useful today as it was in 1870.
