Large Mountford Staffordshire Marriage Jug 1839

Description

Not only is this LARGE EARLY VICTORIAN STAFFORDSHIRE MARRIAGE JUG beautifully painted in GILT with the names and date of the marriage, but also comes with a certified copy of the MARRiAGE CERTIFICATE.

The JUG, which is decorated with a transfer print of a pretty Regency Chintz Pattern, bears the names of G & H MOUNTFORD and the date Sept 27 1839 in gilt beneath the lip.

The Marriage Certificate confirms that George Mountford and Harriet Worthington were married in Keele, Staffordshire in September 1839.

The JUG holds over 5 pints of liquid.

The condition is good. There are no cracks, chips or restoration.

A wonderful piece of Staffordshire Potteries history.
