Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originally commissioned in 1739 by King Louis XV of France from sculptor Guillaume Coustou for the Chateau de Marly, the original marble statues depict wild horses restrained by grooms. Reduced bronze castings became popular decorative items during the nineteenth century across Europe.

These sculptures were produced using lost-wax casting or sand casting techniques, resulting in detailed bronze figures that were subsequently finished with hand-chasing and chemical patination to achieve a rich, dark surface tone.

Authentic castings from the late nineteenth century display crisp chased detail in the mane and muscular anatomy, heavy physical weight relative to size, precise joins, and an aged dark patina showing light wear on raised surfaces.

Placing a pair of classical bronze sculptures on a sideboard top, mantelpiece, or console table creates an architectural anchor that complements traditional wood panelling or contemporary minimalist decor.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth or soft-bristled brush, avoiding water or chemical solvents that could damage the patina. Occasional light application of neutral microcrystalline wax protects the bronze against oxidisation.
