FAQs

Historical landscape paintings typically focus on natural scenery such as mountains, valleys, and rivers, often reflecting romanticised or realistic interpretations of the natural world popular in past centuries.

These works were traditionally executed using oil-based pigments applied to stretched woven canvas or wooden panels, typically housed within hand-carved and gilded wooden frames.

Authentic pieces exhibit visible brushwork, texture in the pigment layers, canvas aging on the reverse, and period-appropriate framing techniques upon closer inspection.

Such pieces serve as focal points when hung at eye level against neutral walls, contrasting traditional craftsmanship with modern minimalist spaces.

Preservation requires avoiding direct sunlight, maintaining stable indoor humidity and temperature levels, and consulting a professional restorer for periodic cleaning.
