Large Pair of Empire Bronze and Ormolu Cassolettes

Description

A fine pair of Empire period circa 1820 cassolettes.

An impressive pair standing 47cm (18 1/2 inches) in height.

These fine bronze urns would have graced the mantle piece of an extremely splendid and opulent Chateau of the period.

The covers with reversible function one side being a candle the other a finely cast acorn finial. The night and day function.

The quality and detail of these bronze is exceptional. The work of a fine bronzer of the period.

Presented in the natural original state unwaxed with fine original gilding.

In excellent condition with only the most minor wear and dulling to gilding.
