Victorian Gilt and Enamelled Tazza or Compote

19th century
Description

Here is a classically styled gilt and enamelled Tazza or Compote with two Griffins either side of the central bowl, which is richly decorated with female heads, amongst garlands and foliage. To the centre is a medallion with a male bust in renaissance costume.

The Tazza stands 13.5cm to the top of the Griffin, 7cm to the top of the bowl and is 33cm in diameter from Griffin to Griffin, and 27cm in diameter across the bowl.

The Tazza is in a good condition with gentle surface wear commensurate with its age, and some losses to the gilding - I have included many photographs so that you can study the piece in detail.
