A departure from the standard chest of two short over three long drawers, this delightful piece has several unusual features: the deep, cornice-like moulding beneath the elegantly thin top, the six tiers of drawers, all retaining their engraved brass escutcheons and backplates and the simple but well proportioned bracket feet.
The central, shaped pendant is especially bold and unusual and more commonly found on American chests of the period.
