Antoine-Louis Barye: a charming and quite early small bronze sculpture of a hound, accurately observed and finely modelled, fully signed on the integral rectangular bronze base. French circa 1830-40

** Antoine-Louis Barye (1796-1875) son of a Parisian goldsmith, was an important founder member of the French animalier school, renown for his skill at faithfully capturing animals in a realistic, charming and sometimes exciting mode. His patrons included various members of the French nobility, including the Dukes of Orleans and Nemours.
