Art Nouveau Pewter Covered Egg Dish

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Prometheus Antiques

Fabulous Art Nouveau pewter covered egg dish by the Osiris company of Germany. The dish is designed with the cover modelled as two birds fighting over a berry, this sits on the dish with sections for eggs and a simple floral motif in the corners. The whole is in excellent condition there is some wear in areas to the pewter but this is only in keeping with the age. The base is marked with the Osiris mark. Osiris was the trade name of Walter Scherf & Co. of Nürnberg, decorative metalware manufactures in Germany at the beginning of the twentieth century. The piece is quite rare and an excellent example of Art Nouveau pewter. C.1905.
