A Rare Pair of French Mid 19th C Bronze Model Cannons

A fine quality pair of cast bronze French detailed canons. They have long tapered barrels that are decorated with raised and stepped rings. The barrel is mounted in the centre onto a sturdy bed with a hinged adjustment for setting the range. In the underside, there is a broad axil which is mounted with large spoked wheels for movement and transportation. These heavy cannons would have been drawn behind pack mules or horses. Each canon is complete with four loading and cleaning tools which are located on either side of the bed. This impressive and highly decorative pair are in excellent original condition and are finished with a dark brown patination.
