Victorian Childs Toy Play Sword Knights

19th century
Description

Original 19th Century sword made for a child.

Double edged half blued steel blade, spiral ribbed wooden hilt, burgundy leather and plaited wire bound, brass pommel cap with a brass cross guard.

The tang is riveted through the pommel.

Original stitched tooled leather scabbard with brass socket and chape

All in good sound condition, surface rust to the blade, the leather dry but still sound and strong.

Length 23,5/8" or 60cm, weight 221 grams.

Probably the work of sword maker rather than a toy maker.
