Antique Pewter has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
The plain body is inscribed with the ownership initials 'DM' to the front, the lack of verification marks would suggest that this mug was for private use.

The mug has makers marks to the left of the handle; the three lion passant marks are attributed to M Alderson & Co who worked 1821-1832, but could also be attributed to earlier Alderson businesses. The inside of the base has a very faint makers mark of an 'A'; this is also attributed to a number of Alderson businesses. The likelihood is that this mug was made either by M Alderson & Co or Mary Alderson 1792 -1821.
