Antique Pewter has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The body has two sets of incised banding and stands on a flared foot. The handle is of double scroll form with a fishtail terminal. There are no makers marks but this style of tankard would date to circa 1800-20. The tankard is inscribed to the front with the initials RH; there are also no verification marks which would suggest that this was for private use.
