Irenee Rochard was a French decorative sculptor best known for his Art Deco style and specialising in animal sculptures. At leaving the Ecole des Beaux- Arts at the age of 22, he won a first prize for a life size panther sculpture and won many awards throughout his career. In 1938 he became a member of the society of French artists , winning a gold medal at the Colonial Exhibition in 1931.
Rochard sculpted many animals, horses, gazelles, dogs and panthers all in the Art Deco style. He also used ceramics, wood, spelter, granite and marble but was more well known for his work in bronze. His work is well collected with collections in Paris and New York.
