Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian brass letter clip is a spring-loaded desktop stationery holder manufactured during the nineteenth century. These objects were designed to organize loose letters, documents, or bills on writing desks, often featuring thematic cast brass relief decorations such as agricultural motifs, hands, or heraldic emblems.

These desk accessories were predominantly manufactured from heavy cast brass or bronze, fitted with internal steel coil springs or tension bands to maintain clamping pressure. High quality examples feature crisp molded details that were hand-chased and polished.

Authentic pieces usually display registration marks (such as the Victorian Diamond registration mark), manufacturer stamps, or patent dates stamped onto the reverse side. Authentic items exhibit natural wear on contact points, heavy visual weight relative to size, and crisp casting details rather than soft, modern reproductions.

A brass letter clip can be placed on an executive office desk, styled atop a stack of hardcover books on a bookshelf, or used in a hallway console display to secure correspondence. Its warm metallic finish complements dark wood surfaces and tailored study environments.

Maintain brass items by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth. To preserve aged patination, avoid harsh abrasive polishes or chemical dipping solutions; application of microcrystalline wax provides protection against oxidisation while maintaining the natural patina.
