A late 19th century walnut triple back sofa in the William and Mary style, the stuffed back formed as three chair backs with high centre sections, over scrolling outswept stuffover armrests and with three feather filled seat cushions, over a scalloped seatrail with piped edge standing on Braganza feet with shaped stretchers under each section and with a central finial. English, circa 1890.
Condition: Excellent; the construction is very robust and solid, and the sofa has very recently been completely reupholstered by our upholsterers, using a grey linen by Linwood, horsehair and cotton stuffing, and feather cushions. The sofa is, of course, extremely comfortable to sit on. The seat depth is 57 cm.
