French Art Deco Copper Bas Relief Sculpture - Mysterious Figure

1920 - 1940
Description

This impressive hammered and chiselled repousse panel in tobacco coloured copper depicts a veiled and mysterious figure. It is a testimony of the art deco era's love affair with mystery, travel, the orient and all things exotic.

Unsigned, and most likely French in origin, I believe this to be a unique piece - I have not been able to find another example of this panel. Measuring 46 x 35 cm, the overall framed size in its original oak frame is 58 x 47 cm. Some wear to patina as visible on the photos.
