Description

A fabulous cast brass double inkwell featuring Queen Victoria with Greek Goddess Athena (the goddess of wisdom) in helmeted bust form on the reverse. Believed to celebrate the 1897 Diamond Jubilee this piece is stamped T & T for Townshend & Thompson who were brass founders during the 1880’s at Ernest Street, Birmingham.

The pair of inkwells are formed in brass with bulbous ceramic bodies having cushioned crown tops.

A really striking inkstand of the highest quality & certainly the best of it’s type that I have ever had the privilege of offering for sale. A real statement piece.
