Victorian Copper Harvest Flagon

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: witchantiques.com

A lovely pear shaped Victorian copper harvest flagon. Unusual to have ''Two Gallons'' etched into the copper at it''s widest point. Whilst it has plenty of dinks and knocks it is in very good condition considering it''s use. These ale flagons were used to refresh farm labourers during hot days on the land especially at harvesting times hence the term harvest in the name. Not appropriate today maybe but absolutely the norm pre WW2 and prior to present day farm machinery. Holding water if wanted for flowers. If wanted for beer allow approx £60 to fill, not the 30p when it was made.
