Jospeh Victor CHEMIN (1825-1901) was born in Paris and was one of Barye's successful students. He first exhibited in the Salon in 1851 and then regularly from 1857 until 1894. Sculpture of racehorses was popular in Paris, and this is a fine elegant example.
