Victorian Gilt Bronze Profile of Rubens

A fine and decorative gilt bronze profile of Peter Paul Rubens. The profile is based on the famous self portrait oil by the artist. The casting is clean and crisp and the gilding is both polished and matt to give the profile depth and life. The profile is set on a black velvet backing and mounted in the original frame. The large and substantial frame is in mahogany and has a superb original colour and patina. The whole is in great untouched condition and has a great impact on the wall. C.1860.
