A 19th century good quality pair of French bronze statues of Mercury and Fortuna. After Giambologna, standing on a circular Sienna marble base with a dark brown patina. Signed Sobre, De.P. Both statues are supported on the wind issuing from the mouth of Boreus.
Giambologna 1529-1608. Was a Flemish sculptor based in Italy, celebrated for his marble and bronze statuary in late Renaissance or mannerist style.
