Late Eighteenth Century Four Poster Bed

Description

A large George III four poster bed in good original condition, the shaped yellow and floral painted cornice and pleated yellow silk canopy above the pair of posts surmounted by Corinthian capitals, above reeded tapering and lappet carved baluster sections, each square lower section on wooden castors, 273cm high, 170cm wide, 214cm long

Provenance: Wormsley Park.

This is a fantastic bed for a high ceiling room standing 9' tall.

It is very rare to find a bed in such good original condition: complete with its painted cornice and a large original size 5'6" wide, 7' long. In the past we have only achieved such a size by extending the components in our workshop.

Declaration

Moxhams Antiques has dated this piece to the 1750s.
