A Napoleon III bronze figure L’Amour au Papillon.

Cast after the marble L’Amour, which is included in the collection of the Louvre Museum, Paris. At the Salon of 1802, Chaudet presented a plaster model of L’Amour to great acclaim. Unfortunately, the artist died before it was realised in marble. Seven years after his death, his friend Pierre Cartellier (French, 1757-1831) completed the work in marble, which was shown at the Salon of 1817. Louis XVIII acquired L’Amour for the State and exhibited it at Versailles, where it resided until it was transferred to the Louvre.
