Interesting and practical early C19th French circular mahogany bedside table or ''vide-poche''.
 
Unusual Empire-design mahogany bedside table or bowl-stand with a central turned solid mahogany bowl or open vessel pocket-tidy mounted on the top . The bowl with a moulded edge and raised on a turned stem .The circular moulded-edge tray top with a frieze below ,supported on 3 turned classically-inspired tapered columns each with collars top and bottom. The base platform of concave-sided triangular form with a circular moulded bowl-ring to the centre . The whole raised on turned bun feet .
 
In good original condition with some marks to the interior of the central bowl commensurate with age, use and purpose. The mahogany has achieved a good deep , rich patination.
 
Highly practical and stylish table of strong Empire design .
