. Patinated to resemble bronze and mounted upon well-figured 'rouge griotte' marble rectangular bases.

Modelled after the pair of ancient Egyptian stone lion statues that stand in the 'Cortile Della Pigne' ( 'Courtyard of the Pinecone' ) Vatican Museum, Rome, Italy .
Some wear to the faces probably from cleaning and rubbing commensurate with age. The bodies with historic marks and minor dents and dings , having been caused by the nature of the soft lead medium , but no breaks or losses. Good consistent patination.
