Description:
Here is an example of a good quality antique English Victorian gothic pitch pine and ebony 4ft 6” wide bed, circa 1890, in excellent original condition. This bed fits a standard UK double size mattress (4ft 6” wide by 6ft 3” long). The tall headboard comprises a straight, moulded top rail, below which are four linenfold carved panels, exhibiting stunning grain configurations and framed with ebony. Supporting the headboard are two turned, carved column supports. Below, the supports rest on sturdy octagonal legs. The legs are connected via a stretcher below the main headboard, for additional strength. Two metal angle irons bolt in place to join the headboard to the footboard. The footboard features a straight moulded top rail, with a fielded panel below, incorporating geometric triangular pattern ebony inlay. The footboard is supported by octagonal legs. All four legs rest on their original mug castors. The bed dismantles into four sections for easy transport and easy access into your house. This bed is solid in joint and ready to use.

Condition Report:
This bed is in excellent original condition. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges and sides but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The bed retains its original complete brackets and angle irons, all of which are clean and not rusty. The bed retains all its original mug castors. The bed dismantles into four sections for easy transport and easy access into your house.
