The dark brown patinated figure has coiled hair and classical drapery falling over the body. Visible details include an upright posture with the right arm raised and the left hand holding folds of fabric, detailed sandals on the feet, and a support column behind the right leg. The original marble statue of Diana of Gabii was discovered in 1792 near Rome and is attributed to the ancient Greek sculptor Praxiteles. During the nineteenth century, reduced bronze castings of the statue became prominent as Grand Tour souvenirs and decorative classical sculptures.
