William IV Mahogany Three Door Fitted Wardrobe, C.1830

19th century
Description

A good quality English William IV mahogany three door wardrobe dating to circa 1830. With a moulded cornice above three arched crossbanded panelled doors which open to reveal a fitted interior with a full length hanging space, sliding trays and drawers. Featuring a good colour and grain to the front, scroll corbels and a central mirror door, it has turned wooden knob handles, brass locks, catches and a key and stands on a plinth base. The interior is not lined and the hanging section has a removable shelf, original wooden hanging pegs and a later front/back extending hanging rail (this could easily be changed for a side to side rail). With suppliers label for ‘The Furniture & Fine Art Depositories, Ltd …… by Royal Appointment to H.M. The King of Spain’.

Of solid construction, fine dovetails to the drawers, some small nibbles to the veneer mainly at the top door edges, faded to the sides with old dark marks, an escutcheon and one handle back plate is missing but we can arrange for these to be replaced. The sliding trays could be removed and replaced with another hanging rail to give a 38 3/4in (98.5cm) high hanging space for shirts.

The overall dimensions at the largest points are approximately

Width - 77 1/4in (196.5cm)

Depth - 26 1/2in (67.5cm)

Height - 83 1/8in (211cm)

Internal depth - 20 1/8in (51cm)

Internal height of hanging section - 57in (145cm)

For transportation and moving this wardrobe splits into five sections (cornice, plinth, left hanging section, right fitted section, centre door).

Dealers Notes

When buying it is important appreciate antiques have long histories of daily use and as such, over time they gain minor scratches, marks, knocks, shrinkage splits, signs of old woodworm, lifts and losses to veneer, which combine with care and years of polishing to create an individual character and patina. We describe the main flaws and those that fall outside of this bracket but cannot describe each marks separately and therefore suggest you do take the time to request extra photos. We do offer a 14 day money back guarantee if you are unhappy with your purchase but cannot refund the return shipping cost. If you are not sure please do not buy without clarifying or take the view that the only way to have it as near to new as possible is to have it fully and comprehensively restored.

For delivery we use a small carrier experience in carrying antique furniture. Delivery is usually within 31 days and the carrier will make arrangements with you directly. We can provide contact details of other carriers if required.
