An Interesting and Large French Bronze Dish

1900 - 1920
Description

An unusual and quite large cast BRONZE DISH by this famous French sculptor. Of the Art Nouveau period, it depicts a naked young woman reclining in a field whilst holding flowers in her left hand. The two handles show distinct influences of the Art Nouveau movement and it is signed by the artist, lower right. 16.5ins wide.

*** Henri Fugere (1872-1944) was a statuary artist, born in St. Mande, a city to the North of Paris. He studied in Paris with Barrias and Cavalier amongst others, and became influential in the Art Deco period for chryselephantine figures (usually a bronze body with ivory head; hands and feet) forever made famous by Chiparus and Ferdinand Preiss.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
