Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Portrait miniatures originated during the sixteenth century as intimate personal mementos and remained popular across Europe through the early twentieth century before photography gained widespread dominance.

Miniature portraits were frequently painted using watercolour or gouache on materials such as card, paper, vellum, or ivory, housed beneath glass inside cast brass or gilt metal frames.

Authentic pieces generally feature fine, layered brushwork visible under magnification, era-specific clothing and hairstyles, original metal framing with hanging loops, and minor natural age-related oxidisation.

These compact artworks function well integrated into a gallery wall, styled alongside books on a shelf, or hung individually in narrow wall spaces to introduce historical character.

Keep the miniature out of direct sunlight and high humidity to protect the pigments, dusting the glass and frame lightly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth without liquid cleaners.
