Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Neapolitan view paintings are landscape and seascape works created predominantly in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries depicting Naples, Mount Vesuvius, and the surrounding coastline. They were produced primarily for wealthy European aristocrats completing the Grand Tour as educational and cultural souvenirs.

These works were typically executed using opaque watercolour, known as gouache, applied directly onto woven paper. They were frequently mounted within hand-lined wash mats and framed in carved wooden frames finished with water-gilded gold leaf.

Authentic period examples exhibit characteristics such as period-correct rag paper with light foxing or age toning, fine opaque brushwork, hand-drawn ruling lines on the matting, and original gilding showing wear or oxidisation on the frame edges.

A pair of small landscapes works best displayed symmetrically, such as positioned vertically in a narrow wall space or horizontally above a sideboard or console table. Matching gilt frames complement both classical period schemes and minimalist contemporary settings.

Works on paper should be kept away from direct sunlight and hung in rooms with stable humidity levels to prevent fading and cockling. Mounting materials should be acid-free, and conservation-grade UV-filtering glass is recommended to protect the gouache pigments.
