Description

This is a delightful Regency period day bed in the tasteful Empire style typical of this elegant period. The couch is in solid mahogany embelished with ormolu gilt metal mounts including cast hairy paw feet and anthemion detail. The attractively shaped frame has stylish swept swans head metal mounts to the back of the piece and the silk damask fabric is a perfect match to the design, with a classical Regency double swan motif, highlighted with tasteful braided detail.

This is a most unusual, rare and stylish piece dating from around 1820. It would look charming placed in a bay window or perhaps at the base of a bed.

The couch has quite neat proportions and measures 120 cms long, 74 cms high and 48 cms.
