A fabulous quality, English antique oak double bed by Arthur W Simpson around 1900-10.
Simpson is one of the forgotten masters of English Arts & Crafts Furniture.
The clean simple lines and superb workmanship of his Arts & Crafts furniture found a ready market locally. Simpson died in 1922, but the workshop continued under the guidance of his son until 1950.
This Simpson antique oak double bed is labelled underneath the head board with a large black Handicraft label. The bed is in superb, clean and original condition. The head board features a chamfered and moulded top over vertical splats, the foot board has a shaped apron and the bed stands on square, tapering legs that finish in the original quality castors. The oak timber is in the original finish, a lovely piece of Arthur Simpson antique bedroom furniture that is in excellent condition.
