P.L. KOWALCZEWSKI: an interesting and fine quality late 19th century cold-painted BRONZE FIGURE of "Diana the Huntress".

She stands on a rock, virtually naked, with bow raised in her left hand, and with her long red hair flowing in the wind. Fully signed to the bronze and completge with its original serpentine marble base.15.5high (39cms) overall.

***Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski (1865-1910) was German, though it is possible some of his work was cast in Austria and this may therefore be a "Vienna" cold-painted bronze, as the finish and patina is very similar to the fine quality and unique bronzework produced in Austria during that period.
