Fine Art Nouveau Mahogany Settee

A very good quality Art Nouveau period settee. The settee is made in mahogany inlaid with boxwood and satinwood. The piece has a lot of Art Nouveau carving with whiplash curves and flowers and fruit. The whole is in excellent condition and much more robustly made than similar items of the period. The settee retains the retailers label of Wolfe and Hollander of London, the company retailed for the likes of Shapland and Petter and this settee may well be by them as the carving bares resemblance to their work. The settee has been newly upholstered in the finest Mackintosh design fabric with rose motif in gold and red. The settee would work well with Art Nouveau or Arts and Crafts designs. C.1900.
