Stunning Chinoiserie Decorated Compactum Wardrobe

1900 - 1920
Description

A spectacular walnut and Chinoiserie decorated compactum wardrobe. The 2 panelled doors having cross banded frames with burr walnut panels and very striking Chinoiserie, gilded, coloured and raised decoration with typical Chinese scenes of pagodas with weeping willows, Chinese characters, musicians, birds and flora and fauna. The moulded cornice with further gilding and the whole stands on a plinth base with ogee shaped bracket feet. The interior with one half for hanging clothes on an extendable hanger, the other half fitted with 4 glass fronted doors with further storage above and below and the interior retaining the original green lining. With working lock and key.
