PIERRE Le FAGUAYS: "Atalante": a large and most impressive Art Deco metal SCULPTURE which depicts an athletic and scantily-clad young woman in the act of throwing a spear.

The artist has caught her mid-stride, supported on one leg with her left arm thrown out, as she attacks her foe with spear raised. Fully signed to the original stone base. 24ins (61cms) high.

**Pierre Le Faguays (1892-1935) was a prolific and versatile Art Deco avant-garde French sculptor, whose work greatly influenced the styles of the 1920's and 1930's.
