Stephen Frank Wasley (1848-1934).

He was born in Peckham near London. His first known home was in Nottingham from then on he appears to have moved frequently until finally settling in Henley-on-Thames. He painted in oils and watercolours, and in black and white. He later developed his paintings in a free and confident style. His subjects were frequently Venice, ancient cities and seascapes. He was a great admirer of JMW Turner. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, The Royal Society Birmingham and elsewhere. He had a studio in Whitby for many years.
