Description

Jules MOIGNIEZ: a fine quality French BRONZE SCULPTURE of a Sandpiper about to feed on a morsel at the edge of a pond. Superbly modelled and cast, this is a prized and well-known example of Moigniez's work. Fully signed and in fine original condition. 10ins high; 7ins wide. (25.5 x 18cms).

*Jules MOIGNIEZ (1835-1894) was a well-regarded and highly successful animalier sculptor who exhibited over 30 times at the Paris Salon between 1852-1892. He achieved particular fame with his models of birds which were considered the finest examples of his time.
