Description

A mid 19th century fine quality bronze figure of a sphinx set on a green marble base with ormolu scroll feet.

The sphinx is finely cast and is most probably of French origin, the scroll feet being a later addition.

The sphinx consists of the body of a lion and the head of a King or God, this being symbolic of strength and wisdom.

This bronze is in excellent condition for age and can go straight into a home and would be an ideal addition to a desk etc.
